March 8th, 2013
This is an awesome story and should be motivation to woman everywhere. Kathrine Switzer entered the Boston Marathon as K.V. Switzer. That race had been all male for 70 years. She entered with her coach, Arnie Riggs and boyfriend, All-American Football player, Tom Miller.
While running, the race official, Jock Semple, tried to remove her numbers from her back saying “Get the hell out of my race and give me those numbers.” Her boyfriend shoulder checked him out of the way and she finished the race, changing the face of women sports.
